Understanding the Process.
We know navigating healthcare can feel overwhelming. Whether you're a patient or a provider, here’s what you need to know about how AXIS works, who we help, and what to expect before your appointment.
-
Yes. We work by referral only. Please ask your family doctor or nurse practitioner to send us a referral form by fax or email. Make sure your email address is included — that’s how we’ll contact you.
-
Yes, all services are covered by OHIP. We also accept UHIP and Blue Cross. If you don’t have coverage, you’ll be responsible for the visit fee.
-
Once we receive your referral, our team will review it and determine next steps. If you’re a good fit, we’ll contact you through Medeo to schedule your appointment.
-
No. We do not accept walk-in appointments. All appointments must be booked after we receive a referral from a healthcare provider.
-
It depends on your care needs. Our team offers both in-person and virtual consults. We’ll work with you to determine what’s most appropriate.
-
We provide short-term, broad spectrum gynecologic care. We assess and treat conditions such as painful periods, abnormal uterine bleeding, peri/menopausal symptoms, and vulvovaginal discomfort. If long-term or surgical services are required, our team will refer you to the appropriate provider after initial workup is completed. See our full services to learn more..
-
Once your referral is received, the timeline depends on the nature of your concern. Urgent referrals are prioritized. Currently, there is an estimated 1-4 month wait for initial consultation.
-
We’ll match you with the most appropriate clinician based on your referral and care needs. All of our clinicians are highly trained in women’s health and gynecology.
-
Have your health card ready and any relevant medical records if available. If your appointment is virtual, make sure you have a quiet space and a reliable internet connection.
-
Axis provides consultative services and short-term follow ups for specific gynecologic concerns. If long-term gynecologic or surgical care is indicated, our team will refer you to the appropriate provider after an initial workup is completed.
